Andy States has covered the Southern Maryland Athletic Conference since 2002. During his time in Southern Maryland, he has worked for the Calvert Independent, Southern Maryland Newspapers and most recently served as the SMAC Content Manager for Digital Sports. In addition to covering SMAC inside and out for over seven years, States has also provided extensive coverage of the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference and Prince George’s County, as well as high school sports around the entire state of Maryland and Washington, D.C. region. In August of 2007, States originally co-founded SMACSportsnet with Jim Higgins.

Jim Higgins originally began covering the SMAC as a sports writer for Southern Maryland Newspapers in 2006 after spending 2 1/2 years covering high school sports in Utah and Wyoming. In 2008, a year after co-founding SMACSportsnet with Andy States, Higgins served as the Director of Communications for the Washington Freedom from 2008-09 during the team’s inaugural season in Women’s Professional Soccer. He is currently fulfilling a technology based role for SMACSportsnet and also operates two other blogs – Freedom Insider (a blog about the Washington Freedom) and Keeper Experts (a blog devoted to fantasy baseball keeper leagues).
